As Liza and Jason's Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyard wedding photographer, I knew I was in for a beautiful day. When I think of a "classic elegant wedding," Liza and Jason’s day at Pippin Hill Farm immediately comes to mind. This stunning wedding venue was the perfect backdrop for their unforgettable celebration, where every detail was thoughtfully planned and beautifully executed.

Located in the heart of Virginia's wine country, the Vineyard, Blue Ridge Mountain views, and beautiful event spaces create a breathtaking backdrop for their wedding.

But what made this Pippin Hill Farm wedding so memorable wasn't just how rustic and beautiful everything looked. It was the people. Liza and Jason were surrounded by friends and family who brought so much energy, laughter, and love to the day.

The couple truly pulled out all the stops to make their wedding a magical experience. From the bubbles cascading around them as they walked down the aisle to the sparkler exit that lit up the night, every moment felt like a dream.

My goal throughout their wedding was to stay close, watch for those little moments, and let the day unfold naturally in front of my camera.

Getting Ready in the Bridal Suite and Greenhouse

Liza spent the morning getting ready in the bridal suite upstairs while Jason got ready in the Greenhouse. Once they were both ready, we headed into the Greenhouse for their first look.

I love first looks because they give couples a chance to slow down for a minute before the rest of the wedding day begins. After spending hours getting ready separately, Liza and Jason finally got to see each other—and suddenly, everything felt real.

We took a brief period for the couple's portraits after their first look, giving us some intentional wedding photos of just the two of them before the ceremony.

A Wedding Ceremony Overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains

The wedding ceremony took place outside overlooking the mountains, and the vineyard lawn setting couldn't have been more beautiful.

The day had started with a forecast that hinted at rain, but just in time for the ceremony, the sun peeked out. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, giving them the ultimate sunset ceremony that felt straight out of a fairytale. The light cast a golden glow over the vineyards, creating a breathtaking backdrop for their vows. Golden light spilled across the landscape, creating a warm glow over the Blue Ridge Mountains and vineyard.

And then came the bubbles.

As Liza and Jason walked back down the aisle together, bubbles cascaded around them, turning their newlywed recessional into one of those joyful, fleeting moments that I love documenting. After all the anticipation and planning, suddenly they were married—and surrounded by everyone they love.

This is one of the reasons I love a wedding at Pippin Hill Farm. The natural setting does so much of the storytelling for you. The vineyard and mountain views create a beautiful backdrop, but it's the people in front of that backdrop who make the photographs meaningful.

Cocktail Hour on the Veranda

After the ceremony, guests gathered on the Veranda for cocktail hour while Liza and Jason got to soak in the excitement of the day.

This is one of my favorite transitions during a wedding. The formal part of the day is over, everyone has a chance to exhale, and the energy starts shifting toward the party. Instead of pulling the couple away for a long list of photographs, I was able to focus on their friends and family interacting naturally. I photographed hugs, laughter, conversations, and all the little pieces of the celebration happening around them.

Those candid wedding photos are such an important part of a gallery. Years from now, you'll want to remember more than what you wore and what the flowers looked like. You'll want to remember the people who filled the room with you, the way your friends laughed together, and how it felt to have everyone you love celebrating alongside you.

Ballroom reception and dinner

From cocktail hour on the Veranda, everyone moved into the ballroom for the reception. Liza and Jason kicked off the reception themselves with a speech thanking everyone for being there. Every detail of their wedding felt intentional without becoming overly formal. One of my favorite little details was their drink stirrers, each featuring their dog's face. It's such a small thing, but those are exactly the kinds of details that make a wedding feel like your wedding.

And then there was the food.

Midway through the reception, mini grilled cheeses made their appearance as a late-night snack, and they were a huge hit. During their plated dinner, guests rang bells to encourage the couple to kiss, adding a sweet and interactive touch to the evening. Between bites, drinks, and plenty of dancing, the energy on the dance floor kept building.

When the dance floor took over

Liza and Jason’s friends and family brought an unparalleled energy to the day. Their wedding party exceeded all expectations, even starting a chant during the grand exit that’s still stuck in my head. Both sets of parents showed off their moves on the dance floor, proving that the fun and love ran through every generation present.

Pink heart-shaped glasses and glow wands became dance floor accessories, and before long, everyone was fully committed to the party.

Liza’s bridal look was a showstopper, but her choice of footwear deserves a special shoutout. She wore the cutest Keds, which were both practical and adorable—the perfect choice for a day full of dancing and celebrating. As someone who practically lives in my own pair of Keds during the summer (and who wore orthopedic sandals with pearl decorations to my own wedding!), I’m always thrilled to see couples prioritize comfort without sacrificing style.

Sparkling end to the night

The wedding celebration wrapped up with a sparkler exit that lit up the night.

Looking back at Liza and Jason's wedding, what stands out to me isn't one single photograph or detail. It's the feeling of the entire day. Every element of their wedding came together seamlessly, creating a celebration that was as heartfelt as it was joyous. Their love, their incredible community of friends and family, and their attention to detail made this day one for the books.
