Professional Portraits with Evie

It's early June, and the summer sun is shining brightly here in Virginia! With the warm weather comes the perfect opportunity for outdoor photo sessions, and I recently had the pleasure of working with a fellow photographer, Evie. It's always exciting and a bit of an honor when another photographer entrusts me to capture their vision.

The Importance of Professional Photos for Your Brand

In today’s digital world, your online presence is crucial. High-quality, professional photos can make a significant difference in how you're perceived. Whether you're starting out, been an executive for years, a small business owner, or simply someone looking to update their profile pictures, investing in professional photography can elevate your brand.

The Photoshoot Goal

Evie wanted to refresh her social media presence with a more professional look for her career in marketing and some unique personality portraits for her photography business. We joked about her professional style being somewhere between librarian and realtor versus her self as a KPop loving, roller skating, photographer. For both parts of the session, we aimed for something in between.

Tips for a Successful Summer Photo Session

  1. Choose the Right Time: Early morning or late afternoon light is often the best for outdoor photography, giving you that beautiful golden hour glow without the harsh shadows.

  2. Dress Comfortably: Summer sessions can get warm, so wear light, breathable fabrics. Choose outfits that reflect your personal style but are also comfortable to move in.

  3. Stay Hydrated: Always have water on hand to stay refreshed, especially during longer shoots.

  4. Embrace the Environment: Use the natural surroundings to your advantage. Whether it’s a blooming garden, a quaint downtown area, popping city murals, let the scenery enhance your photos.

  5. Careful Posture: It's natural to slump down in the heat, but by standing or sitting up straight with an engaged core, you'll appear more confident and poised.

If you're considering updating your social media or need some fresh, professional portraits, now is the perfect time to book a session. The summer sun provides a natural, vibrant backdrop that can make your photos stand out.
