Ro and Nicky's engagement photoshoot at Maymont was an absolute delight! Located at 1700 Hampton Street in Richmond, VA, Maymont is a gem with its multiple beautiful gardens, each offering unique and picturesque backdrops for any photoshoot.
Maymont photoshoots can be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues or strollers, as the paths are uneven and often steep. However, if you can manage it, the experience is truly worth it. The lush gardens, serene ponds, and charming bridges create a magical atmosphere that is perfect for capturing love and connection.
Ro and Nicky are a precious couple whose love radiates in every photo. When they hug, you can see them fold into each other, visibly relaxing and sharing a moment of pure contentment. Photographing their engagement session was a heartwarming experience, and it was a joy to document their genuine affection for each other.
Did you know that wearing an engagement ring on your right hand, not your left, is a Dutch tradition? Nicky and Ro both have roots in different countries, and learning about their heritage and traditions was great. I love learning, and one of my favorite parts of being a Richmond engagement photographer is discovering their cultures, interests, and niche hobbies. It always broadens my horizons wonderfully.
During our shoot, we explored all of Maymont's stunning gardens, each offering its own charm and beauty. From the Italian Garden with its elegant statues to the tranquil Japanese Garden with its pond, every location added a new layer of enchantment to their photos. The algae overtook the pond at this time and it almost looked like flat ground walking across the stepping stones.
